Until digital photography and Photoshop® came along, it was much more difficult to repair seriously damaged photos. The time that was necessary to fix the photo on the left digitally was extensive, involving the reconstruction of the boy's face, the ripped corners, folds and contrast/brightness. But when you look at the finished product, there is a photo which is ready to be framed. Memories like this should be preserved.
